MINUTES (IN CHAMBERS) Order For Supplemental Briefing Regarding Personal Jurisdiction by Judge Andre Birotte Jr.: On 11/16/2016, Plaintiff Michael Annas Allaf filed an Application for Entry of Default Judgment against Defendant Salah Mohamed-Mariche19 . In support of his application for entry of default, Plaintiff submits a YouTube-generated notice of a copyright dispute apparently involving the video at the heart of this case. This notification also contains a statement that Defendant "consent[s] to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the district in which [his] address is located, or if [his] address is outside of the United States, the judicial district in which YouTube is located, and will accept service of process from the claimant." According to YouTube's website, YouTube's headquarters is located in San Bruno, California, in San Mateo County, which is in the Northern District of California. Because the YouTube notice indicates this Court may not have personal jurisdiction over Defendant, the Court requests supplemental briefing on the issue. Plaintiff shall file this briefing no later than 1/5/2017. Alternatively, Plaintiff may file a notice of dismissal and refile the case in the Northern District. See document for further details.
