Farrish. 28 U.S.C. § 455(a) provides that "[a]ny justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned." Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Farrish represented clients in arbitration proceedings adverse to a business owned by the plaintiff in this case, David M. Ford. While Judge Farrish believes that he could preside impartially over such matters as Judge Williams may refer to him, the nature of those prior arbitration proceedings was such that Mr. Ford may disagree.
