Assuming without deciding the Court has subject-matter jurisdiction, the Court transfers the case to the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. A court may dismiss or transfer a case for improper venue on its own motion. Here, the interest of justice favors transfer over dismissal, as the transferee court likely has greater knowledge of the law of the state in which it sits, so it stands in a better position to determine whether the domestic-relations exception to diversity jurisdiction applies to this case and, if appropriate, to remand the case back to the Circuit Court of Vernon County. The Court directs the Clerk to transfer the case to the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and close the case in this district.
