TEXT ORDER entered by Judge Jonathan E. Hawley on 2/24/2025. Plaintiff, who is incarcerated at Lawrence Correctional Center, filed a letter1 regarding issues at Lawrence. Plaintiff also indicates that he is on a medical furlough in Urbana, Illinois. Plaintiff's letter is difficult to understand and does not contain much information. Out of an abundance of caution, Plaintiff's letter was filed as a Complaint1 under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. See Bahler v. Lopez, 231 F. App'x 500, 502-03 (7th Cir. 2007) (clerk may not refuse pro se plaintiff's initial submission, a letter, for failing to follow Fed. R. Civ. P. 8). Plaintiff's Complaint does not clearly identify his intended Defendants, nor which claims he wishes to pursue in this lawsuit. Therefore, within 21 days, Plaintiff must file an Amended Complaint. The Clerk is DIRECTED to provide Plaintiff with a Section 1983 complaint form to assist him. Plaintiff must clearly identify each Defendant. In addition, his Amended Complaint must include numbered paragraphs. Each paragraph should briefly state Plaintiff's allegations. For instance, what happened, who was involved, when it occurred, where it happened, and what impact did it have on Plaintiff. If Plaintiff fails to file an Amended Complaint by March 17, 2025, his case will be dismissed without prejudice. (ANW) |
